I have a free flickr account, and the .gif that I uploaded there is not animated. Does anyone reading here know off the top of their head (before I spend the $) whether upgrading to a paid account with flickr is the flickr way to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance,

pete

Hi Maniacal Pete -

Flickr no longer allows animated gifs.

Hi Pete -

I don't know about the others, but you could check picasa - that is a photo hosting site, where Flickr is more social networking anymore in my opinion.

I use my own hosted domain to host my images. You can get something like a go-daddy account for less than $20 a year.

I personally use Dreamhost and have my own domain, but I also have a couple of forums etc, so I need MySQL and some other features that most people don't need.

That said, I have unlimited hosting, and unlimited bandwidth, for $8 a month.

So - that is what I do.

Try picasa for a bare-bones deal, or sign up with a web host for your own hosted space and no worries about having your images removed etc.

**edit** I tested picasa to make sure you can do animations - you can....

Places like the above 4gifs have disply codes you can use.
If you need to host your own pics/gifs photobucket does a nice job.

Imageshack.us works too
