Here's where two of the best got together and came up with a real winner. John Young ground the blade in a Chute style and Bill Ankrom made the folder. Bill's linerlocks operate so smoothly it's hard to believe, John says "like glass". I chose polished Big Horn Sheep to go with a 3/4 Chute fixed blade that Bill had made me. This feels good in the hand, has some weight to it. The blade is approx 3 3/8", OAL 7 7/8".

Years ago, I owned some of Bill's older, hefty folders (yes, I once collected folders) - and I cannot think of a better "hefty" folder that I ever owned. Coupling that feel with a Young blade/grind (particularly chute) would make a folder I would never have gotten rid of. What a great combo, Win.

Congratulations Win, those are amazing, especially the folder.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks, folks, I appreciate the comments. I forwarded this to Bill and John, I'm sure they do to. Bill let me know that they're working on a new model, a folding NY Special! Looks like I'll need another custom. ;)

I was at the Vegas Gun & Knife shows like six years ago with another maker.
We had the table right next to John and his family.
So I had two days drooling over his work and of course chatting with him a bit, he's a very busy man at a show.....:D You could not ask for a better maker to work with and to get knives from.....

These two knives are off the hook.....:thumbup: But I wouldn't expect any thing less from him.
