First, a late happy birthday to Blackdog (January 9th). He's 117 years old, I think. Blackdog: Sorry I missed the official date (no excuse other than lameness).

Second, a good luck to Ryk Sheppard (AKA Ryk) - he ships off to Boot Camp to become a US Marine. Semper Fi, if you can still read this (and if it's too late, which I suspect it is, then welcome back, Marine!).

Craig,

Thanks very much. I'm really 118, but things start to get a little fuzzy after the first 100 years or so.

Barb & I just got back from a little excursion. She and I and our 3 kids (they're dogs, but we never told them) spent the last 3 days in the Ocala National Forest, about 300 miles NNW of Miami. No phones, no airplanes and no traffic jams. What a great place to spend a birthday. I even saw some trees that are older than I am.

I used my SN-1 to keep us supplied with wood for the fireplace. Nothing new to report there. It just chops and chops and chops.....

I'd also like to send my best wishes to Ryk. You have chosen a difficult but honorable road. God Bless You.

Blackdog, do any fishing when you were in Ocala? I used to go up there from Daytona in the '70's camping out & fishing, used to catch some nice large mouths.
The military testing base still near there? There used to UFO reports from the Ocala National Forest all the time <grin>.

Blackdog,

Happy belated birthday! What was dirt like when it was new and shiny?

Beat it to fit, paint it to match.

Jon,

I didn't do any fishing. I'm the worst fisherman on earth except those rare times when small quantities of explosives have been available.

The military area is still there and off limits. They call it a "Naval Bombing Range" although I doubt if any bombs are ever dropped there. Nothing like a 500 pounder dropping short to put a serious crimp in tourist traffic

. As for the UFO's, I saw some RV's up there that were so big they should have their own zip codes. With all the clearance lights on them at night I can see how they could be confused for the "Mother Ship".

Age in dogs years?! Blackdog is over 17, Craig.....LOL!

IMHO age isn't physical, but 100% MENTAL. Khukuri (as well as other knife-aholics) lovers are mental. OMG I am!?!

Yeah Ray, time to stand up and be counted. You can tell us your birthday, we won't tell anybody else. There'll only be seven or eight hundred of us who will ever know
