Place all announcements in an area of their own. You take up a large portion of the sceen making, all have to read them. People will read or disreard at their own discreation either way.

I guess I should have addressed it to the manager, owner of the site. Take all your announcements, and put them under announcements. People will read or not at their own risk, and punitive action can follow if they do not comply. Using up a large portion of the screen on each area of interest is very repetitive, and I do not think it serves a special purpose by repeating the same thing. Members and guests will comply or not. Let us hope they do.

Now that makes more sense. :D It happens sometime, you get an idea, it's clear to you, and you don't post the whole thought process that went into so,

Actually, it's an interesting idea, to have a FAQ forum where current announcements could be headlined, and standard procedures could be listed as threads.

We do have a Bladeforums FAQ. The problem is, the people who need to read these things, don't. The people who do tend to be the kind who are familiar with netiquette anyway, and can figure out what's good.

Where this suggestion should go is BladeForums.com Service and Support. Let me see if I can get it moved there.

Any announcement that a moderator posts that has bearing on his particular forum should stay in that forum not somewhere else clumped with a bunch of other announcements. The announcement I posted in Community should not be moved to a central location. The information contained in it is relevant to the smooth operation of the Community Forum.

There is no best way, as I see it. Leaving sticky posts on forums is, as you say, repetitive, and I simply overlook them now. They become background. Usually it takes me a couple of days to notice if one of them is fresh. Sorry, but that's me.

Posting to a general announcements forum? Hmmmm.... I only view forums that I 'subscribe' to, to minimize my looking and maximize my interests. I guess I would subscribe to one, and look in when there is a new post, but then again....

Ken's comment is right on. He makes a good point.

Spark seldom posts website-wide announcements, and when he does they're things we all need to see, immediately, and he sets them to time-out when they're no longer needed. Right now there are two in effect, but that's unusual here.

Sticky threads in the individual forums can't very well be moved anywhere else.

Seems Sparks only comes to kick the dog:confused:

But hey whay do I know.

Oh, hey, I'm sorry that I don't make a lot of posts patting people on the back everyday. Between running this site and running another business and in general dealing with the maintenance and upkeep I generally try to avoid posting unless I have something to say. Most of the discussions I don't have much to add to, so I just keep my mouth shut.

Most people are happy when the boss isn't underfoot all the time! They used to tell me to get a cup of coffee and go sit in my office when I started poking into too many corners of the workfloor. :D
