Announcing the new 940DLC-1802 SMKW Exclusive!

Looks like the ultimate 940 to me! I wonder why it's listed as heavier than the 940-1, or is that a mistake?

Nice, a 940-1 with an upgraded steel.

The red is a little garish, but that can be over looked.

the red is very subtle in this one as compared to 940-1701 or 908-161.

Looks absolutely amazing, but my god. $320 feels absolutely insane to me. Really wish I could understand Benchmade pricing.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought about getting one until I saw the price. Much more than I want to spend for a 940.

I like the red. I think it is nice now that blue thumbstuds and accents have become so ubiquitous.

Still for that price I would just save another hundred bucks and get a crk. I can’t see myself paying this price for a 940. Maybe an integral TI handled one.

Like, I guess in the conventional lineup of 940, 940-1, this thing, the price makes sense to Benchmade. But given that the 940-1501/1701 exist, which are 20cv blades+g10 for 220$( I think?), I'm not sure that the jump from 20cv->M390 and G10->fancy cf are 100$ worth of upgrade. Really don't know. Sad, too, because i absolutely love my 940s and would love to own a M390 version, but as it stands I can't imagine this is something that is going to sell enough to be reasonable on the secondary market, and the thought of buying one BNIB for myself I just cannot stomach.

The only thing I see garish is the price..

I'll stick to the 940-1501 and save $125..20CV is basically the same steel as M390 and I don't see the point of DLC M390..I've never had 20CV rust.

10 years ago this was gold class material, for $323 and not $650+. Over on Benchmades company forum people have been asking for a "silver" class for years and this fills that spot nicely I think. I agree the 943 is long overdue for some attention though.

You are right. 940-1501 is $199.95 for 20cv/g10

For the price they’re asking it better have flawless centering, extremely even grind lines, and very smooth action for both the axis lock disengagement and the freeness of the blade.
