Announcing the NEW Limited SHOT 417GY-1901!

Most of the online knife retailers typically have the SHOT knives. I’ve seen some preorders already.

The Fact is a knife that is completely impractical for me and I wouldn't want to carry it on me for legal reasons (i.e. it will be construed as a weapon)... but man this is a nice knife and I keep thinking about buying one!

Oh boy, two weeks later and I ended up ordering the 417 late last night on impulse. It was an impulse long in the making. I woke up with mild regret, it really is an impractical purchase that I was holding off on for a reason, but I'm sure I'll be pleased when the mail arrives.

I wasn’t initially excited by this offering, but it has grown on me. Pulled the trigger on a preorder. It’s supposed to be coming with some promotional goodies, so that pushed me over the edge lol.

I picked my 417 up at lunch and I have to say my initial reaction is that I regret purchasing this, it just doesn't meet any of my needs and is a bit too aggressive/tactical for me to want to carry around. Of course I knew what it looked like going in but for some reason I was compelled to try it out, oh well. Blade centering is good but not perfect but one thing that is very disappointing is that the tip is rounded! The whole point of this knife is a very sharp spearpoint and this one is totally rounded. Sort of adds to my buyer's remorse. I may send it to BM and hang on to it or get rid of it sooner than later, I'm not sure. Besides the rounded tip I can see this being a great knife for the right person, I'm just not a tactical guy!

I'd love to see some pictures of that tip!

Are you talking about the SHOT 417gy-1901 (the subject of this thread) or just the base 417?

I'd love to see some pictures of that tip!

I took some quick pictures, not the best quality but they should show the rounded tip.

After loosening the pivot quite a bit the action is a lot nicer (i.e. I can actually flick it open). It is a nice knife and complaining about the tactical-nature of a black class knife is all on me, but the tip is a bit of a bummer. I can press it against my hand fairly hard.

That’s pretty bad. I would exchange it, rather than send it off

I am going to return it and save my $$$ for something else. Unfortunately, where I now live I am unable to see Benchmade knives in person, so doing a blind order without ever seeing the model in person is just a fact of life now. I was happy with the 765 and Valet I ordered sight-unseen, but the Fact just didn't do it for me.
