Annoyed... at the moment

I absolutely love Spyderco, but at the moment, I am annoyed. I just bought the new Cat, and I open it up. Everything is perfect, but I put it in my pocket and I walk around. I hear a loud rattle. I take it out, and shake it. Again, a rattle. I wasn't sure if it was the clip, so I tightened it. Still some sort of rattle. Do these knives have some sort of spring where it might become loose? I sent them an email, so I'll wait and hear from them. But before that, do any of you have an idea where it is coming from? Thank you.

Could be a stop pin. Does it rattle when the blade is opened, just closed, or both? If not when open it's probably the stop pin

On the one hand a loose lanyard tube would make disassembling the knife easy, on the other it rattles. Do you have a tapered punch? You could slide one in until it makes contact with the outside of the tube, put the knife on a firm surface, and give the punch a whack with a hammer. This should flair out the very end of the tube and hold it in place. You don't need to go crazy, just enough to stop it from moving.

Good suggestion. If you flare it too much, it might be really hard to get it apart if you need to though. If you can live with the rattle you should. Keep your warranty in tact.

I ended up putting a little clear expoxy around the edge. It dried, and it is perfectly fine now.
