Annoying Edgepro Problem

Hi everyone. Just got an Edgepro, and it was working fine for a couple of days, but now it's started to develop an annoying problem. The angle won't stay set, no matter how tightly I screw in the knob. It moves with the slightest touch, and while I can kind of sharpen for a while, after a short time the knob slips and the arm falls down to 10 degrees. It's starting to scratch up my knives, and getting to be impossible to work with. I can't find anything on this problem, so did I just get a dud? Or is it a design flaw that I have to work around?

I've never heard of that happening before, and it's certainly never happened on mine! You ended up with an Apex, as I recall, did you not?

If the solution isn't immediately apparent, just drop Ben Dale an Email, and he'll be able to set it right in no time. The customer service for the EP is second to none.

Call Ben Dale. He will talk you through fixing it overr the telephone, or replace it immediately. He's a great guy to work with.

Talked to the man himself! Said he's seen the problem before, maybe one in a thousand. But he's sending me a new screw and collar, which should fix the problem.

One can always count on Ben Dale to provide truly superb customer service.:thumbup:

Excellent! I've talked to him a few times on various occasions and had a similar excellent response.

Like has been said his customer service is great. If you run into anymore problems shoot him an email. If you have problems sharpening a shape or grind etc he will help you figure out what you are doing wrong and how to fix it.

Yes, he clearly takes a lot of pride in his product. I know in his videos he says to feel free to call and he'll be happy to give advice, but I didn't realize he meant it lol.

Indeed! A lot of places say it, not all that many really mean it. I guess one of the things that impressed me the most when I bought mine (aside from the expected superb made-in-the-USA quality) was that it was hand signed and dated!

Yes that is a nice touch. He even put my name on the carrying case. They are great folk to deal with.

Got the part today with a hand-written note explaining the probable cause of the problem, and it locks up perfectly now! These guys are amazing; I certainly didn't expect to have it working 100% two days after calling them.

Excellent! Glad to see that you got all squared away. It's really hard to beat service like that, isn't it? :D

I apologize that my memory has failed me for the moment and I can't give proper attribution to this adage.

"Do something you love, and you'll never work a day in your life."

I believe that Ben Dale has achieved that goal. His machine, and his customer service are truly a labor of love.
