Anodized area wear question

On a 21 with a unique anodized graphic that is entirely recessed (i.e. slightly below the main scale surface), will that anodizing wear off with typical use like it will on a thumbstud or should it look as good as it did on day 1 for a many years to come? And do all anodized colors wear off essentially at the same rate?

Anodizing is the build-up of an oxide layer on the surface of the titanium. The thickness of the layer determines the colorI reflected. It can and will wear with use, although not as likely in a recessed area. It is however pretty tough. The higher up on the voyage color chart, the thicker the layer, so it it's less prone to wear. If I had an UG sebenza, i would not carry it.

My sebbies came with either a gold or blue anodized stud, color was gone within 2 weeks.

That does help, though I must admit that there are a lot of color charts out there. Do you by chance have a link that I can refer to?

Not carry a UG Sebenza??? Honestly, that thought never occurred to me. In your experience, do most folks choose to not carry their UGs?

The UG knives can be brought back to new by CRK. They will re-polish and re-anodize the slabs. It may not end up identical, as the colour spectrum is a bit random on most, but they will create something similar, and equally stunning. No worries carrying a UG. The knives are beautiful, but still fully functional tools.

The further right, the thicker the oxide layer. This is a good reference and it's pretty accurate with the anodizing I've done.
