Will the anodized handles on the Benchmade 42 wear off? Everyone is telling me if I was gonna get a BM42, get the blue one. But I wanna know if the color comes off. If it does, can u send it back or something?

I've said this to you before, so I guess I'll tell you again. If you are not going to actually use the 42a or 42as, but just look at it and maybe masterbate with it, yeah the anodized colors look pretty cool. I've got a 42as 1st production that will be in NIB condition for as long as I own it (mostly because it's a 1st but also of it's delicate finish)

But.. if you plan to use it, it will definately wear off and the slightest drop to a hard surface will definately scratch it. Im looking at another 42a that I have and it looks pretty bad now. Sheesh, even unlatching the 42a produces permeanent scratch marks in the finish. And even if BM did offer free anodizing services (or for a small fee), I would not risk sending it to Oregon as it may not make it back here to CA.

The anodized color will wear off eventually, but I'm sure it'd take some time and use.

As for your question if Benchmade would re-anodize your handles if they wear off... I highly doubt it; even if you paid a fee. And anodization (correct term?) doesn't wear off all at once, or evenly, and probably not completly. Wouldn't it look funny to anodize over already anodized ti?

I say just go with the standard, plain ti version. You don't have to worry about the color wearing off, and IMO, it looks better. You'll probably find it cheaper, too.

As for Howdy's masturbation comment... you're nuts, man.

Hehe, well I was just trying to get the point across about how pretty the anodized finish looks.

Well, I ordered me a 42 and a 42A just to see how the anodization looks in real life.
I'll use it as much as my plain 42, and if the anodization wears off, I'll polish the handles and maybe get them fileworked
