Heat anodized my Zero Tolerance 0551.I tried this a while ago but it did not take well. It was OK but very subtle. Not satisfied, another attempt was required.I think because the surface, as it comes, is a bit rough limited the effect. Kind of a stone wash. Electric anodizing was not possible (so far as I can figure) because there is a spacer pin pressed in made of another metal from titanium. I think this interfered with the reaction but I could be wrong. Anyhow, I completely disassembled the knife then went over it with a scotch brite wheel then a polishing wheel and compound then buffed. Wiped down with alcohol. Next came the propylene torch. I used propylene rather than propane because it is hotter but not crazy hot. It took approximately ten minutes of moving the flame around. It did a little less on the lock bar because I was concerned about the detent. This is why the colour is different. After putting it back together I thought the clip did not look right being a bit dull. Polished that up too which seems to compliment the over all look better. I am very happy how this try turned out. I have not been doing this kind of thing long.Wadaya think? I would love to see anyone else's knives who have done this too. Share pics and how you did it. Here is mine:
