Reactive Metals sells several anodizers and I don't have a clue which one would be best for a knife maker's use. Anyone buy one of thier anodizers and can give me some info on which one to get?
Thanks up front!!

I'm not sure about them,, but I'm making two right now
I got everything so far from e-bay.
I should know today how one of them works.
I need to make something for a cabinet though:)

You gonna tell me noone on this entire web site has bought an anodizer from Reactive Metals and can give me some tips on which one to buy, sheesh peoples!:(  :footinmou :grumpy:
Oh well, guess I'll break down and email the folks at Reactive.

I have the Mini anodizer from Reactive Metals, It is worth every penny! Colors are bright and consistant everytime. It is small so it dosen't take up too much room and is perfect for doing liners and other small titanium parts. I would get one if you are in the market for one. It is built very well and will last you a long time. I have had mine for over 2 years with not one problem.

maybe no one that's checking thread
Kit has one from them..:)
maybe he'll comment on it...

hey Chuck does too he just posted the same time I did...:)

Mike,
I have one of theirs. No idea what the model # is. Had it about 14 years and never failed me. Kristi has it and uses it for her titanium jewelry.
It's about 6"x6"x6" with hi, medium, and low receptacles on the side of it.

L6 I have the mini anodizer and love it, you can make a unit cheaper but if you are not into that i would go with the RM system. The only thing i have purchased for mine was the "meter output" box so i could reproduce colors at a certain voltage range, i just hooked a $10 Sears mini digital volt meter to mine so i can dial in the color on a number scale that i made up with all the colors on it...

That way I have a ket ring of numbered peices and can check the Ti against handle materials or whatever to see what color goes best before i do the anodizing...

Alan...

Thanks guys!!!
I emailed the folks at Reactive and they had the same suggestion you guys do. Here's the email I got back.
Hi,
Our SS Micro unit will be more than satisfactory for your needs (unless you are making 4 foot knives!) It uses a bath size of between 1 and 1.5 quarts and will achieve the full color range. If you are using titanium, you might consider our Multi Etch product to etch the surface first....this is necessary to get a full color range on most grades of titanium (Grade 5 titanium [6al/4v], doesn't always need an etch to get good color). If you have any other questions, please let us know.
Thank you,
Michele Bowers

I'll be ordering one as soon as I get back from my trip to Trackrock and east Tennessee.
Sure will be nice to be able to make purty colors on my knives. :D
