When you add colorful anodizing prints on titanium scales, how well does that hold up ? Do they eventually fade and look like crap, or does it stay sharp and colorful for life ? I've never had any experience with it and have thought about sending a few of my Spydies out for a dip ? Thanks to all in advance !

It doesn't fade, but it will scratch relatively easy.

Titanium anodizing two methods (heat and electro - I typically do electro) in my experience stand up much better than aluminum anodizing (the physical process and results differ greatly). Additionally, anodizing Ti deposits layers of titanium dioxide crystals to the surface that helps to protect the titanium, and the way light reflects through the crystals is how/where the colors we see come from. Surface finish (smooth, polished, orange-peel, blasted, etc., etc.) each affects light reflection and colors seen. Oils and/or misc. surface films dull perceived color reflection, but can easily be cleaned off.

I would stay away from anodizing polished Ti, at least on large areas. Oils from your hands really changes the reflectivity and color until they are cleaned off, at least in my experience. Bead blasted or satin seems to do better.

I have a related question. If there's a anodized print on the titanium scale, what happens if you apply heat to it? Does it change the color of the print of does it remove the print?
