Another 112 question

It seems like there have been a lot of questions lately on older 110's and 112's. I have another and I did try the search function but it wouldn't work for me. I have found a Buck 112 that is near mint in the box. I am wondering if the knife can be dated better than my limited knowledge permits. It has the following features:

1. semi-hollow ground blade with what looks like a factory ground bevel on the edge.
2. only two pins on each side to hold the scales on and the scale pins don't stick up above the scales as much as on newer Bucks.
3. it is stamped Buck over 112 over U. S. A. (no dots or symbols)
4. no nail nick
5. black leather sheath that looks new
6. ancient looking buff colored box

I know the 112 was introduce in 1972 (thanks to Joe Houser). I know Buck started using dots in the 70's but am not sure what year. I have an older, 2 dot, 110 that had a convex edge on it when I got it but am not sure if Buck ever beveled the edges on the semi-hollow ground blades. If not then this 112 has been sharpened at some time.

I guess the reason I am asking is that I would be willing to pay a bit of a premium for the knife if it was a very early production and the blade was as it came from the factory. But I don't want it that bad if it has been worked over.

Thanks for any help you all can give.

Thanks guys. George, I didn't mention it in my original post but this knife has wood scales. I am not sure which type of wood though.

Chemist, Looking through some of the information I have, I think you have a Catergory II 1972-1974. There were three versions of that, each made with different inlays. Ver. 1 has Black Micarta inlays, Ver. 2 has Sequa wood, and Ver. 3 has Macasar ebony.

Catergory I 1972, had Black Micarta inlays and BUCK, USA stamped on the tang.

I am new to some of this info, so I stand to be corrected.

Hope this helps. George.
George,
I think you're correct. I have the version 1 with the blacvk micarta scales. The version 2 with the sequa wood is the only one I haven't seen. I bought mine new in 1973 at the San Diego navy exchange for $12. :D
