I went hunting yesterday and took my old Marlin 99m1 carbine 22 cal. Its the same mechanism as the Marlin model 60. It was my first .22 I acquired in the late 70s. Ive been shooting Remington's for quite a few years just wanted to shoot the Marlin for old time sakes . The trigger pull is awful on that Marlin. Is this something that can be corrected? Is it something that should only be attempted by a gunsmith?

Back when I hunted solely with this gun I didnt notice the hard trigger pull. Had no experience with other guns. But its noticeable now.

The trigger on the model 60 can be brought down, I did my first one about 35 years ago. It still breaks at 3.5 lbs. Watch out when you take it apart, as the spring likes to fly.

I forgot how horrible the trigger pull on mine was until I shot it last week. When my kid shot it he thought it wasn't working!

gunsmiths are wary of doing trigger jobs since lawyers have sued companys so many times. on my 721 remington i turned the screws but it got to where i could'nt fire it. so i told gunsmith that it would'nt work & i realized their reluctance to work on triggers but gun would'nt fire. he fixed me up real good & i slipped him a 20$.if you ca'nt adjust it you may try my approach since the smith is'nt really doing a trigger job ---he's repairing the rifle.
