So benchmade shipped me out a regular clip and a deep carry(talked about in my last thread)i love the deep carry clip i need to get another for my mini presidio auto. But anyways my question is. Does benchmade design their clips loose? Like spydercos sit flat on the handle but the newest deep carry clip i just got the other day i put on and it is loose, like it needs to be bent. And the clip that is on my mini presidio is also loose, that clip is just a regular clip. Are they supposed to be like this? Or did i get a bad one?

ive gotten two new clips from benchmade that were loose, just a quick 30 seconds to bend it and its fine, i wouldn't worry about it too much

Yea i did th same with mine. Not worried about it just wondering if thas how they were supposed to be, didnt make much sense why they would make them fit loose.

being that the screws line up for multiple knives/clips i think they try to keep them pretty uniform to go on any model so that may be where the looseness comes from

Yes. I don't think they test fit their clips before sending them out. Since clips will fit multiple knives, it's pretty safe to assume that they are generically bent with no specific preset tolerance. Electrical tape, needle nose pliers, 5 seconds, and done.

Deep carry clip isn't designed for all knives - I believe the 375 Adamas and the 810 Contego.
Bend it gradually along a countertop/board/desk with your body weight, you'll get it just fine. I like mine to be real tight so I do that a few times, and it usually is pretty good.
I've got one on my 551,940, and 585, they're pretty great.

It's because you have to fit them to the knife. Wait till you put one on your Presidio, it will be wayyy off from the scale (That is if it's the Presidio not the ultra version).

No one has said it yet, but be careful of breaking the clip. I snapped one (940-1 clip) with just my fingers! It broke, well shattered, leaving drops of blood to the sink! I ordered two new clips, one replacement for the 940-1 and one for a grip. I had to bend both of those. Laugh away, I used welding gloves, face shield and pliers for the next bending. Both clips bent fine. I will assume the exploding clip was an abnormality. Just go slow and check, bend, check and bend... Man, I really love the Spyderco wire clip!

Replacement clips never used to snap like yours and one I received a few months ago did the same. I was very surprised, but without injury. I don't know if these are heat treated but I've replaced a lot of clips and this was the first time. +1 on the Spydie wire clip, BTW - they're just as good, maybe a little better by drawing less attention to the knife itself.

hear here! Also you have more leverage with the deep carry clip.

The black oxide clip they sent me couple months back snapped and I was going slow. I heard it was maybe because a batch was not heat treated. Unfortunately they only sent me one clip even though I said I had many knives and to send me 4 or 5... I just put the painted clip back on, need to call again and see if they can send more...
