another anodizing question!! need factual help!!

ive looked at the anodizing tutorials over and over....

im still having trouble geting the aluminume to take the dye.
i follow the instructions exactly with no coloring.
i do manage to succesfully anodize the parts but with no color

im using rit fabric dye
ive followed the tutorial step by step only to be dissapointed in the results.


has anyone done this procedure and gotten the results they expected?
 
If you're using any hot liquid rinses after anodizing, that seals the pores in the surface...
Cold water rinse, dry without heat, color part with cold dye solution, then put in hot water to seal it in...
Any help?
 
think i might have figured it out.
im using my car battery charger as a power supply
do you guys use a battery between the charger and part to be anodized
ive done it without a battery this whole time and the charger turns on and off like the breaker is getting tripped and then resets when it cools not keeping the part bubbling for more than a minute at any given time

do you think this might be the problem?

im going to try and find a battery to test it.
