Another atrocious movie knife

Just got my new Blade Magazine, and the cover is graced with, the magazine filled with info and ads about, the latest Stallone Movie knife. Two of them, in fact.

Typical United Cutlery and Hibben work. But taken a step further by perpetrating the myth of the "brass back" on a bowie. And taking the idea even further by the addition of that useless feature on a big Arkansas toothpick.

Oh well, it is a movie knife, and the knife community does like to celebrate knives in action films, regardless of any usefullness or practicality.

Looks like something new for all the mall ninjas out there. :D

... I probably would choke on my morning coffee if I ever read from action film where they would use real survival / combat knives like Becker BK-7 or Esee RC-series... I probably would get heat attack too, if action films would show actual and useful knives instead these... designs that make me wonder: What has he been smoking?

It's too bad, really. Ferman knives originally designed the knives for the movie, but for unknown reasons (probably Sly's having worked with Hibben before), they decided to go with Hibben's stuff.

The movie is a love song to all of the action movies of the 80s, frankly I'd be disappointed if they went with something that wasn't over the top.

Big guns, big knives, big explosions. Good times.

Googled the Blood Moon knife, didn't do much for me,there are a lot of nice bowies out there that look better IMO.

as a knifemaker i have to give a lot of credit to what gil has done over the years of knifemaking. i look at a lot of his knives and wonder how he can do some of the grinds he does. i challenge anyone who knock his knives to try and do what he does. a lot of the knives he makes for the rambo movies or any that sylvester star in are designed by gil and silvester together. gil has also done a lot for the knife industry too. check it out.

That's okay Rich.No need to defend Gil.I'm sure he's laughing all the way to the bank.:D

+1 on laughing all the way to the bank jtr. i would love to have a buddy like sylvester to call me up saying he needed another knife made for a movie ;) :D.

gil hibben is one of the most respected knife makers around and his longevity in the knife world is something to be admired.

the united cutlery stuff is goofy, but try and pick up one of his handmades and see what it sets you back.

What is the myth? I've seen and heard of the brass back, but never got what the mythical intention was for that feature.
