This one is being donated by a member who wishes to remain unnamed. The bidding will start at $100 and will run untill next Wednesday, November 21st at 12 noon CST.
From the owner:
This knife is in excellent condition - never carried, never sharpened. Used to cut paper at most. I'm the original owner.
Theo Eichorn (Acorn Knives) custom knife. This is one of Mr. Eichorn's earlier works. I ordered it from him (my first custom) when he was still working out of a small shop (early 1990's if I remember correctly) here in Central California. I believe he has since moved (himself and shop) to Norway. He has a nice website if you want to check out more of his work. I think that this blade was forged, but our interaction was so low key that I'm actually not sure. He was forging knives at the time.
The blade is L6 steel. It will catch a fingernail but will not shave hair. The guard is a lightly reddish brass with a small acorn shaped stamp on the face of the guard. The handle spacers are horn and antler. The handle is para kingwood. The dimensions are: 4 5/8" blade length, .18" thick at the spine, 9 5/8" overall length. There are some very light spots on the blade in a few places - see the picture with the knife tip and the spine in the tee shirt picture. What looks like a dent on the guard in the "acorn" stamp shot is really a reflection of a ceiling light canister. I think the spots are left over from the original blade making process and not rust. Overall fit and finish are very good. I apologize for the low quality photos - it was a bright day out and this photographer is not so bright.
