Did you get it from Dave over at axeoexa? If so, he's a great guy.
 
Nice! What's going on with the metal wedges in the top of the eye? It looks like someone must have drilled through them to remove the previous wood wedge, now the new wood wedge appears to split them.
 
Was shipping more than the axe?

Nice looking score though - those hytests are beasts no doubt. The one I have is a monster. You will love that one. Good score!
 
Great looking axe. 'Hytest' is definitely one of my favorite makes. They did a lot early bush work here and in Australia.

Whoa Hey Mai, I must say! But it is what it is. Unless there's Hytests to be had here stateside. Thanks also since I thought it was a nice pull on this one!

A little history's good to know and thanks!
 
Cleaned the head up some. While I don't have a grinder/sander, I simply did some sanding by hand with 220, 320, and 400.

Lots of character showing. But this one's a work in progress, and a keeper to be sure.

IMG_0494 by Log Cutter, on Flickr and theres my Black Hytest, its a great axer and Ill be cutting with it this weekend at a training day! they really are a great axe, top score on both of the above guys! they look unreal!
