My neighbor wanted a gift for his hunting buddy. This thing was a pain in the buttocks to grind.

1095 steel, 1/4" thick, 2 1/2 wide, 5" blade, 5" handle

any suggestions for scales?

Impressive blade. I would put stag or burl wood on a hunter. If it was mine, it would get amboina-scales, but I put amboina on everything - I just loove that wood. :D

Thata's a beautiful sweeping grind you have thre. Excellent ! can't wait to see the finished product....RDT

Better you then me. Nice blade, I would
put natural micarta canvas base or green
& black G10. But what the hell do I know.

looks a little like the white hunter model by PUMA. is it all flats or hollow on the edge grind? hard to tell from the pics. if he really wants a worker, canvas micarta taken to 220g is tuff to beat.

You must have nerves of steel. Beautiful grind. As a worker I'd be tempted to say micarta but that thing is just begging for a really nice piece of Ironwood.

Thanks for the kind words guys.I like the buffalo horn idea.Any good suppliers? And how hard is it to work as far as warpage?
