OK, I'm looking for a quality overnight bag. It needs to be big enough to hold everything needed for a week end, but small enough for a carry on. Lots of pockets is a definite plus. I'd like to keep it under $100 if possible. Quality and versatility are the main goal. I want a bag that I should never have to replace. I'll pay more if I have to to get what I need.

I just bought one of Duluth Trading's Master Series Contractor's Briefcase. This thing is huge and holds a LOT more stuff than I thought it would - I bought it without ever seeing it in person.

It's got a big center pocket that is big enough to hold overnight stuff, and has lots of little pockets everywhere. Its construction is bulletproof and I can't imagine it ever wearing out.

It's reasonably priced and carries a lifetime warranty, and it's made in the US (I think).

You can also get it without the laptop case here .

Just to sound like a broken record, if you are looking for something you will never have to replace, go Filson. You might spend three times as much, but the bag will last.

Add my vote for Duluth: very nicely made stuff. My best travel bag to tate, however, is one of L.L. Bean's duffels (medium is carry-on sized). I have traveled for over a month with what I can pack into one of these. Only time I ever had to replace it was when it was stolen! Very sturdy construction. And there's always L.L.Bean's iron-clad gurantee - they really will replace (or give you a refund) anything they sell if you say so.

James, I've been eyeing up the Filsons...very nice stuff.
The only problem is for that kinda money I can make a dent in a large Sebenza . But then again, "You might as well have the best".

Paul, Filson gear is very much like carrying a Sebenza; once you are used to the best it is hard to go back. I'd recommend finding an outlet where you can check it out first-hand. You're a man of quality and taste, I'm sure you'll consider it a good investment.

James, I have a couple Filson dealers located. Next time I'm close to one of them, I'll be stopping in.
I've checked out many other brands. None of them have had quite what I'm looking for. Filson has at least four bags I want to check out.

Another vote for the LL Bean duffel. I had one for many years. It sat in the closet unused for a long time and when I travel I tend to use a Jansport daypack instead so I gave it the football playing stepson. He's had it for a couple years now and abused the daylights out of it and it still looks great.
