Here is another one from my pal's collection that I could find room for under the bed.

My pal thinks that because of the Ashok symbol on the scabbard this could be a retirement kothimoda from 5GR. Whatever it is the khukuri is an excellent example of what a kothimoda is all about.

My pal has over 200 khukuris in his collection plus other knives. He wins best of show whenever he goes to knife shows. I don't advertise his name because it would put him at risk for robbery. He has a very valuable collection and lives on the east coast in a high crime city.

This is indeed a superb Kothimoda Khukuri. I take it that if enough serious interest shows, this could be an HI offering for the year 2000?

As this is my 200th post and the year 2000 is coming up, I would say that the signs are favourable that this could happen.
 
I think Bura can do a decent kothimoda. After all, he makes khukuris for the king who gives them to visiting dignataries and other big shots. We'll see.

The cost will be fairly high and will be due to the labor involved in the working of the silver. I had some silver "puja" bowls made when I was in Nepal and was surprised at the cost. It can get expensive.

I have confidence in Bura on the Kothimoda. He did an excellant job on my Banspati's (really nice I might add) and his son on the very heavy duty Chiruwa. Something about khukuris that I love. Now I want a 16.5" Sher-Crazy at about 2.5lb. or more in weight, with a regular size 15" Ak handle. The wide blade khukuri's are impressive also to me. Like to get a note of paper with their autographs with the knives. Sure would make my H.I. collection extra special!
