With hunting season approaching I began to look for an all purpose woods knife to serve me to clear trails, set stands, set traps, start fires, and should the occasion arise, become my lifeline. I had checked out the Bk2 before and my search quickly led me right on back. Being a broke college student, the price was definitely right and the engineer in me loved the idea of modding it to suit my needs. As you'll see at the end I have dabbled in knife-making before so I need to tinker a bit. Another cool factor was the ka-bar is located right down the road from me in Olean (me being from Lancaster,ny) Enough talk, heres some pics!
Micarta went on as soon as she was unboxed

She sure is pretty

Decided to wash behind her ears with a little pcb etchant before I make her strip

Got another toy in the mail too. Lashed the sheath on with some paracord while I waited. The fieldline pack is surprisingly good quality (considering the price)

Little closer shot

Here's a shot of a skinner I made out of a file

Next up is stripping her down, giving her a nice soak down in gun blue and bleach (Flats only), Give her some curves (convex), Jimping like on my skinner and most likely a firesteel notch. Still waiting to decide if I should try dying the micarta a little darker or let it patina darker on its own. Let me know what you guys think. Gotta start earning my keep if I want official beckerhead status. Im already lookin at some tweeners to replace my homemade skinner.
