Just finished this Pintada, but left it with a satin finish this time - I am a little bored of the etched finsih I have been applying on most everything I did this year and decided to do something different. It is 1/4" thick 5160, sellectivellt heat treated (but there was no way I could show the temper line in the pic...) and almost 10" in blade lenght.
Let me know what you think.

My only comment is the blade is too thick but other than that, I wanted to reach out and grab that thing from my monitor!!!

I grew up with large, no-frills, working blades here in my country. They look cheap but can do almost any task you give them and still ask for more. Your designs not only reflect that breed of knife but they look excellent too!

Thanks for your comments, buddies.
Untamed, the Philipine blades are awesome - I especially like that leaf shaped one (a barong, I think) and one of these days will make me one like that.

Gracias senor, sus cutchillos son muy excellente! (God I hope I'm making sense since college Spanish was a lifetime ago!)

The barong is indeed one of the most favored traditional combat blades of the ancient Moro Filipinos (one of my old teachers, has an authentic one and is one of only a handful well versed in its usage, check it out in the pic; http://www.yuli-romo.com/).

I look forward to your making one, as I've said, I admire of your work. Para la proxima vez. . .

Muchas gracias por sus comentarios! ( I hope I am making sense too! I have been studying Spanish for only 1 1/2 year now).
I am unable to open the link you posted, unfortunatelly.
Next big big blade in line will be a Kung Fu sword for a friend´s son but maybe I find some time for it in 2006 - nothing traditional, thought, just a flat ground blade with a paracord wrapped handle.

Nice work, Ivan, that's the kind of blade that just makes you want to go out and pick a fight with a tree...a big one! :D Untamed, I believe Ivan's native tongue is Portuguese? Would love to see a picture of that knife if you can update the link.

Thanks,
Jose

Ooooopsss! My bad! About the link, I'm quite bummed-out too! It's maintained by the maestro's UK group.

Thanks for your comments, gentlemen.
Jose, that´s just how I feel when I grab it. It is easy to run out of 7x7s when you start testing one of these, especially with friends around. I have another one on the works right now: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3383453#post3383453
And regarding our language, you are correct, it is Portuguese. It is similar enough to Spanish for me to be able to understand it reasonably but differente enough to justify studying Spanish.
