Can anyone recommend a place to get musket caps? I contacted Cabela`s and they said they have been out for over a year. Any help would be great. Thanks.

It's been a while since I've fired my muzzle loader, not a Musket, but a side lock Hawken made by CVA.

My wife got it for me 20+ years ago in a kit. .50 and .54 cal barrels.

Turned out real nice, shot great, still does I'm guessing, or at least it did when I shot it last.

Here's my question to you, when you called Cabelas, did you ask for "Musket" caps or just caps for a muzzle loader?

Reason I ask is maybe, just maybe they have caps for a side lock Hawken, but not for a Musket. Yes, they both are muzzle loaders but not necessarily the same thing.

Musket caps are bigger, and most, actually all the people I've known don't use the word musket to describe a side lock Hawken.

Call them back and tell them what size nipple(probably an 11) is on the gun and ask for that size percussion cap. They may actually have them.

Good luck.
