Got another one finished up for the St. Louis show on the 28th. This one is 12 1/2 inches overall with about a 6 1/2-inch blade of 1095. It is flat-ground and the spine is ground in a "V." It got about a 1/8-inch curve (sori) to the blade during heat-treat. :)

Comments or criticism are always appreciated. :D

beautiful hamon, never seen one quite like it!

edited to add: the rest of the knife is great too.

That is one of the nicest and most original styled hamons I have seen. I haven't bought a knife since I started making them and if I didn't have a little one on the way I'd probably try and buy it from you for inspiration!!:D

Very nice. The handle wrap is nice, even, and just right on. You've really got the Japanese thing down. So, when is your Katana going to be available? :D

Man, that's beautiful. How old is that tsuba you have in the picture? It looks like it's been around a while.

Nice knife! So, what is that line across the middle of the blade? How is it formed?

Thanks fellows. :)

The tsuba is actually a cheapy from a blade I had a long time ago. It sure would be nice to afford some of the old tsubas out there.

Cosine -- The hamon is done many different ways. Basically, it is an effect of differentially hardening. On this one, I used clay and it was actually not the look I was going for. I wanted the line to diffuse outward more underneath the hamon.
