I'm looking at purchasing a pair of tan "assault boots" I've narrowed it down to these three:

http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme gear/footwear main/oakley_assault_boot_tan.htm

http://www.blackhawk.com/product1.asp?P=83BT00&C=C0863

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=372737

I'm currently leaning towards the Blackhawk boot as they seem to be a good compromise between price.I really like the Oakleys but haven't found a a justification for the price other than "they're beastly" and "Navy SEAL issue" (the second is actually a confirmed fact btw)

Anyone here want to influence my final decision?

Hammer27,
I have the BH Light Assault Boots and they are light in weight, very comfortable with good ankle support. The soles are a soft rubber and grip very well on slippery surfaces. They were comfortable from day one(needed no break-in at all). I did add aftermarket insoles for help with my flat overpronating feet.

I have the oakleys in black and use them for work when appropriate and I can confirm they are very comfortable right from the get go, also no real breakin required.

They can be found for $20+ cheaper than TAD has them listed.

Dumb question of this thread: why is TAD Gear always a hellava lot more expensive then MSRP? What, they give you something the manufacturer does'nt? I dont get it.
What gives?

Any idea where? I've looked and they're the only place that doesn't have them in 6EEE and 14 only:rolleyes:

Hammer27, I know you're looking at a pair of black Blackhawks, but my review of the desert variety from Blackhawk might give you a little helpful info... I love mine and I've never heard serious gripes about any Blackhawk boots EXCEPT that they run narrow -- mine are labeled "Wide" but are most comfortable with thin socks (which, for a hot-weather boot, is fine).

hmmm I may have confused them with the non special forces version of the boot when I looked at prices the other night. I bought mine at the oakley store but it was well over a year ago and I dont remeber what I paid. Also with the specific size needs you may be limited by choice.

I will say that I wouldn't recomend them for everyday wear if that is the intension. The sole will wear relatively quickly on concrete. But if comfort is your goal these are it. They are very grippy and soft soled and wil wear on hard surfaces because of it. They do feel like a sneaker though, for me thats worth it.

Have you considered the 5.11 Tactical ATAC series, I have heard good things about them for less than half the price of the oakleys

I've looked at the HRT boot they offer and some reviews said the quality is a little inconsistent and at $20 more than the Blackhawk light assault boots they lose out. I'm not a fan of zippers so the ATAC is out.
