I just received my Condor Bushlore in the mail from Ben at Baryonyx knife co. and, let me tell you, I believe in love at first sight...It feels sooooooo good in my hand. It came with an ok edge so i have been trying to sharpen it with sandpaper. Its a little better now but I am after-all a sharpening retard so by no means is it hair popping sharp. I do not want to provide specs as it is very redundant; you can just do a quick search and find them anyway right? ;)

So I took her out today for a date at Bear Creek Lake Park and have become even more attached to this knife than when I met her. She performed admirably to making feathersticks (though a better edge would produce better results), batoning, whittling, carving, etc...Any position that I grip with this handle is as comfortable as ever with no hot spots. The micarta scales are grippy even with my sweaty mitts today.

The sheath is well-made IMO and holds the blade very snugly. This knife and sheath were not at all what I expected them to be....that is not a bad thing at all. I am thoroughly impressed and may just have to get another in the future.

Just wanted to post a quick review of my new baby; I'll post pics when I can find my dang camera cord (Though they serve no justice to the blades beauty)

All in all, I LOVE my Bushlore.
I think I may have found 'the one'

Thanks Ben

No problem, dude! It takes a lot in a knife to really make me feel like I need it these days, and this one really does it for me. You'll enjoy Condor's 1075, too--I beat the tar out of my Rodan all the time but all it ever seems to take to bring it back to screaming sharpness is a few swipes of a fine diamond stone. Keep me posted on how it does for you! :)

Thanks again! So do you keep your edge a scandi or convex? I'm really not sure how I want to keep mine; I'm scared of messing up my blade because of my poor sharpening skills

On my Rodan I keep it convexed--but you could try a true scandi on the Bushlore, maybe with a very slight microbevel to prevent rolls/chips.

After sharpening it to a true scandi-grind, just do one or two gentle strokes at a steeper, more conventional angle like sharpening a normal knife. Just one or two will do it. Or strop with an abrasive compound or the sandpaper/mouse pad method. any of those three methods will put the micro-bevel on it.
