There are again, a lot of Buck 110's on ebay with the pretty plastic handles (and some do look neat) that the seller is advertising as having a life time warranty.

He doesn't say exactly WHO warranties them, but Buck's name and a whole lot of flowery words about them in an obvious implication.

He also says some are 1 of 400 and the ones he is selling is #1. and there are several of these #1's

He goes on to say that the number 1 is indicated by the 110-1 on the tang stamp.

What he then shows in the pic is an obvious year stamp for 2009.

He hasn't responded to any of my questions about the warranty or the 1 of 400

Just another big grrrr..

Another seller was saying "Vintage" on a 2006 tang stamped blade that is out of production. I guess it's how you interpret "vintage".

To me 2006 isn't vintage.

sorry,,,I just got on a rant. but these sellers are not doing anyone a service with their misleading descriptions.

And down the road when they send them to Buck for repair, it will leave a bad taste in their mouth and put Buck in a bad light when Buck can't repair them.

Your right Pack,
I see tons of quote vintage knives with pretty late model stamps on them.
The word "Rare" also seems to be thrown around without any merit whatsoever.
I've also wondered about those knives with the custom handles on them and
if that voided warranty or not. I havent seen too many that I liked much so I havent been tempted- and besides who wants #whatever of 400 from the Joe Jerkov collection-Glad you brought it up.

I've been "watching" one (110) with a BG-42 blade & black G-10 scales. The only thing that kinda turned me off about it is the use of the word "Tactical" in the title.I've never seen a 110 advertised as tactical before.
They're asking over $200 for it.Does that sound about right,or should I be leary?
Thanks

I'm certainly no expert but the COA looks perfectly normal-certainly not a tactical. Knice nife. Not sure I'd pay $220 for it. Is that Joe Housers name on the bottom left corner of COA?

Yeah, I'm real leary/burned out on sle-bay. I think it's a great place to sell since things tend to go high, but I'm tired of buying and getting burned. Plus the BS is waaaay too deep!

They know they have theives and liars on there and don't even care. Would love to see Buck and some of the other knife companies get together and sue them for allowing the lies to continue.

JTR- Buck did a limited run of what you speak of, I think that price is a bit high, but if it's NIB and you want it go for it. I like mine just fine.

Joe and other Buck folks have stated here numerous times that any of these after market handle or blade changes voids the warranty.

There are a few of these aftermarket guys that will warranty their own work. The good ones will say that in their descriptions.

Thanks:thumbup:I think I'm going to pass on this one.I'd go as high as $180,but $220 is a bit high I thought.

On the G-10 "Tactical", I looked at the past feedback and they have sold 7 of them since Nov 08 with the lowest price being mid 150's....
I think the only reason they listed it as Tactical is because that seems to tie in to the theme of their store...

I did notice too that they are from Post Falls

So the tactical description more goes with G10 and may be more in line than the comments about lifetime warranty in some of the other auctions with the plastic handles.

Those are the obvious ones that we should send questions to the seller about. Then to ebay for false descriptions.

These guys can cause a lot of bad feelings about Buck on down the road if it comes to warranty issues.

From a collector/accumulator standpoint, none of us need that. BKI sure doesn't.

Makes me wonder also, if Buck is supplying knives to these guys minus handles, at some reduced rate.

For Buck knives ( or any knives for that matter) that have been modified by outside sources, they should have to have a disclaimer in the ad, stating that the knife has NO manufacturer warranty, Unless an agreement has been made with the involved company....

I purchased from the fellow you guys mention on e-bay with the "tactical" 110. They are outstanding (fast shipping, great communication, excellent product)........in fact I called them up personally and purchased a 2nd one so I could use 1 and save 1. VERY NICE GUy!!

Take care, Mike Arnold

Have you guys seen the guy on Ebay selling Cabelas Buck pro-line marked 120's for over $80?
He claims
"this knife is a discontinued model and was last offered in Buck's 2003 Catalog, so it is a VINTAGE knife that is sure to increase both in price and demand".
I emailed him a few months back telling him they were still in production and available at Cabelas.
I though maybe he was just misinformed.
He basically replied saying "thanks i'll have to buy some more then".
And he still claims they are vintage no longer in production.
