Went for an overnighter this weekend with my gf, my brother, and his fiancé. My brother showed up with a machete and a hatchet that was falling apart. I brought along my BK2, and my newly acquired BK9 that I got off the exchange. My brother thought his machete could keep up with the 9. Hahaha

About five minutes in his machete looked like this.

The 9 finished off the rest of the wood needed for our stay.

I decided to do a flying chop off a rock in to an overhead branch for fun.

My brother in the pic for height reference.

Sadly, the 9 almost took away the need to use the 2. Figured I'd take atleast one shot for good measure.

The 9 is a definite work horse in the forest. I had no idea it would chop significantly better than the 2. I am very happy with.
Now I just need to decide on how I want to customize this 9 to make it mine. I'll have it done with another thread soon enough. For now, just thought I'd share another positive experience I've gained while using my Becker knives.

Thanks

Alex

And the 9 shines again. Where is that at ?
I'm also from so Calif. And been looking for some new spots

It's Coldbrook Campsite in Azusa Canyons. There aren't too many campgrounds that are year round. It isn't the greatest of places, but for the time being it's fine. As soon as I get my gf more open to the idea of backpacking our options will increase.
Still a nice little get away. The camp sites are big enough that you don't feel crammed, and the creek is nice. Some of the camp sites are on the edge of it so get there early

Enjoy

Looks like a good time and man does that picture with your brother look dangerous. I keep thinking what if it fell lol!!!

Looks like a great time! You should post when and where next time.....I think some of us So. Cali peeps just may show up!

It was in there pretty good. I actually thought better of it when my gf came back from the creek and walked under it. I knew then it was time for it to come down. Disaster avoided! :)

Hmm... I hadn't thought of that. We should definitely try and coordinate a So Cal Chop Fest!!

There is no going back to car camping after you experience the lack of yahoo's and trash filled mud/gravel flats that many places pass off as camp sites. Plus the fishing is always better.

How did you retreive that 9 ?.........not thinking of your personal safety however.... but the 9's EDGE could have been endangered!

I'm in Ca , chop off sounds good! I chopped some wood this weekend in the yard , had a 9&2, the 2 pretty much just watched. That 9 is an awesome tool but sure do like the 2 just because!!

I jumped off of a rock and pulled it out. EDGE is intact.

Yeah that's my experience. Using the 2 to chop almost seems pointless with the 9 as an option.

Thanks for the post and the nice pix........Looks like a great time was had by all.......

He needs a Imacasa. Still....as badass as my BHK machete is, the 9 chops better. Machetes aren't designed for that. My 9 gets used more than any other blade when I'm in the woods.

LOL great pics...if I jumped off something that high I wouldn't be able to walk for a week. Luckily I could maybe stick the 9 up there from the ground ;)
