Here is a touching story from guardonline.com that mentions Spyderco.

This part may be old news to some, but I think it bears repeating:

In March of 2005 ... Staff Sgt. Jay B. Tipton contacted Spyderco in Golden, Colo., about the possibility of ordering commemorative knives to present as a memorial to honor and remember each fallen solder. Upon completion of the design and during the final arrangements of placing an order for the knives, the owners informed him that there would not be a charge for the knives.

"They asked only for the families to be told the following: 'The owners and employees of Spyderco want each of you, the families of the fallen soldiers of Company B, to know that your sacrifice, pain and loss will never be forgotten and it is an honor for Spyderco to be able to present you with a commemorative knife with your individual soldier's name.'

"So, on behalf of Spyderco, the Arkansas Army National Guard, 39th Brigade Combat Team, and especially on behalf of the members of Company B ... it is our honor to present each family with the knife bearing their soldier’s name," Tipton said.

We all owe a great debt to the soldiers fighting to defend us, and it is great to see such class from Sal & company (though it's no surprise).

Thanx MNblade.

Actually, it's my wife Gail that handles all of the troops. She's repnsible for all of the OIF/OEF pieces donated monthly as well as the special projects like Jay Tipton's request to honor his fallen comrades.
