Info is good for discussion. As long as theres no selling or cross forum bs. It's ok.

You know what I want to bring back?....
The old half moon sirupates. I'm not sure Yangdu will since they didn't sell well all those years ago.
I've been wanting one for forever.

That's an awesome collection and some good historical info. It's interesting to see the different styles put on a timeline like that. Really is like watching them evolve. I'm wondering, where do the Crocodile Dundee sized bowies fit into all of this mess? He must have skipped over it between the world wars :D

I really liked those 2 he called "Afghan" style. I even saved the picture for a potential rainy-day special order. Could totally see getting something similar to that one day.

Thanks for sharing!

Karda - can you find a pic of the half moon sirupates you are referring to?

I'll look, but the images were probably lost when aunties lost her old picture host.
Mr. Tall....since your so good at finding things, would you mind looking also?

Another outstanding piece of khukuri education, Spiraltwista. I enjoyed looking at the photos very much. Thank you.

Cheers guys, its a nice thread to look through!

Karda, Ares the "The old half moon sirupates" the same as the Rod Allen Hanshee? I think HI made those 10 or 11 years back? If so I probably have a photo of the kukri they were copied from.

Sounds about right. Post up the pic and i'll be able to tell you.

Here are a couple of pics of a Hanshee that I got from another forumite a while back. He told me that it was a Rod Allen Hanshee that had been slightly modified by the late Danny Fletcher (Danny In Japan). Danny blued the blade (and handle) and narrowed the butt to suit his martial arts style. The Hanshee is by Sher, 18.5" OAL and 23 oz.

That's not it then. The one I'm talking about is slenderer and more curved. IIRC, the were made with combo horn/bone handles. Shaped kinda like the one on the bottom in the 5th pic down in spirals link, only with much more curve.
