Another Commander question???

I finally decided to buy the Emerson Commander Satin. I have always carried a Spyderco Wegner or Police model, and thought I would try an Emerson. How does the size compare between the Commader and the two Spydercos? Is there anything I should know about the Commander, such as sharpening, or well, anything? I am excited about getting this knife.

Rattler, once you do about five draws with a Commander, you'll be hooked. Just remember, draw to the rear, don't pull it straight up like with "those other knives". ;)
 
its smaller than a police mod(but not much..), about like a wegner i would think, but i like mine a lot better than either one of the spydies, hard to beat the wave imho

Hi Rattler,

The Spyderco Police is somewhat longer than the Commander, I think,
but it is also slimmer, especially the stainless version. The Wegner
is about the same size. In my opinion, you can not compare the Comander and the Police, because these are totally different knives. The Commander is however somewhat comparable to the Wegner. I find the grip of the Commander to be one of the best for a production folder.

The most noticeable differences are:

1) You can take the Commander completely apart for cleaning and/or
servicing;
2) The commander has a chisel ground edge which you can sharpen with
the 204 Sharpmaker, although you have to hold the knife with a
different angle;
3) The Commander has the wave;
4) The blade tip of the Commander seems much stronger than the tip
of the Police in either G10 or stainless (they have 2 different
blade shapes).

i blunted the end of my police model w/a sabre grind SE , flattened the tip almost 1/8 of an inch, chipping ice lol - and chipping a frozen chunk of chipped ice, not a block.........kinda suprised me but the tip is awfull thin.........
