Picked this up on eBay recently. It's another Compliments of Schrade... knife, this one an Old Timer 33OT from 1983.

Notice the fancy shield:

My question, has anyone assembled a list of Compliments knives? Specifically, how many and which years were Old Timers used?

So far I have two:
1983, 33OT
1984, 194OT ( http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Timer-with-colored-logo?highlight=compliments )

I don't know the answer to your question, Bob, but it brings up another one. I thought that tang stamp had been side-lined by about 1975 or soon after. ?

I have a 34OT that I personally purchased brand new in 1980-1983 and it has the same NY USA tang stamp. So your 1975 date is suspect.

The NY USA tang stamp varied widely from pattern to pattern as far as years it was used, and I suspect prestamped blades were possibly ratholed from time to time. I will say the NY USA 33OT and 34OT knives appear to have gone well into the smaller brown box era with the spongy inserts. That equates to the early 1980's. The 61OT and 77OT never had a NY Stamp, and they started in 1976 the same year as the 33OT. For the most part, the NY stamp seemed more common on Walden carryovers.

My observations are not scientific, but I think the NY USA stamp was pulled out on special editions too, sometimes. :D

Thanks, Hal; I keep trying to pin down Schrade's protocols but that is like trying to swat flies in one of those internet games. They just won't behave properly.

Here are the models with NY USA tang stamps that I can personally confirm:

8ot (interestingly the 1985 anniversary set has the NY stamp, but a 1983 model does not)
33ot (1983 Compliments knife)
34ot (including the 1985 anniversary edition)
108ot (including the 1985 anniversary edition)

Schrade's tang stamps have exceptions left, right and center. Even the exact same knives made at the same time can have variances..

For example, the "NY" appears on my stag NAHC156 Little Finger but I've seen a dozen other examples of the same knife without the "NY". I really can't understand why the odd blade would have a different stamp than the majority.

Hey there guys! Figured I'd chip in with the 'Compliments' knives I have to help add to the list.

Year - Model - Tang Stamp
1983 - 33OT - N.Y. USA
1984 - 194OT - USA
1986 - 18OT - USA
1987 - 72OT - USA
1992 - 12OT - USA

All the compliments knives from the 80's in my possession are in the brown boxes with foam. Hadn't known the 12OT from '92 was a compliments knife until the other day. It was still in the packaging and is in a cardboard Old Timer box, unlike the others. Maybe that's common with 90's knives (I don't know all that much about Schrades), but I thought the difference was worth noting.

Here's pics of the knives:

I would like the 12OT , I do not have one yet. I have some more, just can not find them today - I will list them later.
I have not seen some of my old Brown Box Schrade knives for years.
Since Schrade closed down I have been mainly collecting 2000-2004 items...
I have just found an SPI , dated 1990 http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_forum/download/file.php?id=86279&mode=view

I'd like to update this list with additional models and years. Old Timers only, combining my own collection and the knives others have mentioned above. Notice how some models were used for multiple years, and some years had multiple models.

1982: 34OT
1983: 33OT
1984: 194OT, 108OT
1985: 108OT, 104OT
1986: 18OT
1987: 72OT
1991: 12OT
1992: 12OT

No date: 104OT
No date: 12OT

The models listed in green are in my own collection.
Any additional dates or models are most welcome!

Sorry Bob, My eyes fail me quite often now-a-days - It is a 108OT. Could you change the green to "bold"

The way it's stamped, and the small font of those 104-108-sized knives makes it difficult to distinguish sometimes. Even the larger knives get stamped heavily - think of all the "84OT" knives that have been listed on eBay over the years.

I did the green to indicate what's in my own collection, and thankfully I have one of those. :)

What I need to do is get caught up on photos. :(

I was looking for a 106OT and could not find one, then some one said I should look for a "1060T"
Thay look the same knife, only thing the seller was almost blind like me - he also had a"1940T" for sale too.

seller was almost blind like me

Most eBay sellers aren't knife experts or even very knowledgeable. Of course everyone on here knows that OT = Old Timer, but to a 'regular' person...

As far as the OT and 0T go, even Schrade changed their mind on how that was used. They used 80T and 8OT through the years.

I will correct myself here too. I saw a 61OT on Ebay just the other day with a NY Stamp.
