Another consideration...The Ka-Bar 4059 D2 Dozier folding hunter

I haven't gotten my hands on one -- yet. It's the same D2 dagger blade as the Ka-Bar Dozier Thorn, which I have two of, a real winner. That tip is a needle. Keep the band-aids handy.

The handle is the "folding hunter" handle used on the Zytel and AUS-8 models, which are also excellent, especially in their price range. Very comfortable grip.
 
Esav, does that mean that you PREFER the Thorns?

Anyone know the EASE of opening the folding hunter? The Thorns, too for that matter?

REALLY looking for a 3 1/2" or close folder. The RSK1 keeps popping up but I would rather have a narrower (less deep) blade.

It's a great knife and right now A.G. Russell has it at the ridiculous price of $49.95! This is really a no-brainer. If you've been on the fence about this one, it probably won't get any better than this.
 
I really like the Thorn, but the only significant difference with the hunter is the handle shape. If anything, it's a more comfortable handle than the Thorn's, which is good in itself.

At A.G.'s price, it's a steal.

The Thorn snaps open with a double click, snicksnick! extremely fast. From the picture, the hunter has the same stud placement and should open just as well.
 
Awwww, mannnnn, it's got an alooooominummmm handle. I wannnnted the comfy Zytel......whinnneee.......moan......Alooooominum's....cold...in the morning. whine moan waaah.
