I re-shingled part of our house today and while preparing for the "Boil in the Sun" job, I went to my rollaway toolbox to break out a couple of utility knives and some spare razor blades and saw this way way in the back of the drawer peeking out from under a jumbo package of Stanley razor blades. It is a Buck 810 utility knife with a pretty nice "Buck" embossed leather sheath. As seen in the picture, the model # 810 is followed by a back slash (\) which indicates the year of manufacture as 1994.

I'd forgotten all about this knife but do remember buying it in San Diego, CA when we still lived there. I think I used it to re-floor our kitchen. If someone had asked me yesterday if Buck makes or has made a utility knife, I'd have probably siad; I don't know -- all the while, having one in my toolbox.

Nope. I hadda keep it purdy until I could take some pictures of it. From now on though, it's fair game for numerous jobs around the house.:)

I have 2, one to keep "purdy" and one in the tool box. It's handy for sure. This one's a 1993.

A nice photo of you 810 and its in good shape. There are guys here that collect those 800 series knives. DM

This 810 I have isn't serrated. The box it came in is marked 820. Whats the difference in an 810 and a 820?

An 810 without serrations you say, great I thought I was done:) Pack Rat, The 820 was the newer style of hook blade. They had a black handle with a thumbhole in it. The 820's I have are serrated and came with a Cordura sheath. They were made in china. Maybe you got a new box with an old knife. Both my 810's are serrated.

Wrong box for sure...
And the handle is a bit different. No grove or other stampings. Is a 1993. No sheath, other than a cardboard protector.

Dang it guys, all of your talk made me take a look at my 810's. The two that I have, one is serreated, and the other is plain. Here are some pictures, and your guess is as good as mine as to when the plain edge was made.
