Not sure if this has been posted before but I came across this offering from Spyderco last night. I have to take my hat off to them for they are really coming out with some cool Bushcraft blades now eh !

Looks like a good knife, but I don't see why anyone would buy it unless he was impatient or a serious Spyderco collector. For not much more, you can get an authentic Finnish puukko with a forged blade from the master himself. One with superior fit and finish, no ricasso, and a wood lined dangler sheath that is built specifically for the knife. Plus, you wouldn't have to deal with the Spyder hole which weakens the blade and is a place to accumulate gunk. The only advantage I see for this knife is that it is available for purchase immediately.

As already said many times here and on other forums for the same price you can get a custom from one of the seven master bladesmith of Finland or, for a lot less, a custom from one of the many finnish blacksmiths around.

You get a real one, not a Taiwan made "copy".

I have found the production Spyderco's to be much more consistent and of higher quality than the customs from the "masters". As always, YMMV.

I like it and think it would be easier to buy one than trying to order one from overseas, but maybe I'm wrong. And I wouldn't baton with it so doubt that the hole would weaken it.

I've bought a puukko from Pekka. His English is excellent, so there was no trouble with communication. As long as you have a PayPal account you shouldn't have any problems, other than the nearly two weeks it takes for shipping.
