Hi all!

Got my first 2 CRKs the other day. African Blackwood Mnandi and a small Sebenza with the dog paw prints. I sent the Seb back to CRK to get another thumbstud added so I really haven't had any time with it.

But I am enjoying the Gentleman's folder. I wished it had a thumb stud, I really got used to that with Benchmades.

Anywho, just wanted to say hi.

(crickets chirping) Alrighty then.

LOL. Looks like folks around here aren't what you'd call night owls. Congratulations and welcome to the family! Nice choices there. I've often considered the blackwood inlays but haven't gone there yet. Post some pic's if you can, I would love to look at the Mnandi.

Thanks for the welcomes. I took a couple of pictures but looks like I gotta do the photo-bucket/URL trick which I am a little rusty at.

The Mnandi took me a little time to get used to one-handing, but now I can do that right or left handed. Not that it's a tactical blade I'd have to get open in a hurry! :)

I did find the Mnandi is a bigger, stronger knife than many people realize, since it's small compared to other CRKs. But the blade is as big as a Spyderco Native's and that's supposed to be a workhorse of a knife.

I just tried it left handed. Almost took my ear off!

Kidding. I am sure I will play with it enough that I should get good with my left.

Looking forward to getting the Sebenza back with the added left handed lug. I am right handed but occasionally use the left to open. And just for the fact the Seb just felt naked without it.

Welcome to the club. I love my mnandi. I like the lack of thumbstuds because it makes it look a little more classy IMO. I also recently changes the lube I use on my small Seb and I am having fun lightly thumb flicking it open.

The mnandi is a great knife. I had 5 of them, now only have 4 as I traded one for a Neil Roberts. The knife is much tougher than most people think. It does take time to get used to opening them as it is different than the sebenza. Once you get the feel of it, its amazingly smooth !!!

How on earth do you manage to open the Mnandi with one hand? It has no thump stud??

I don't own one to try so just curious.

Giant, the thumb cutout is pretty deep so it's very doable to open it one handed. The grip when opening it is something you need to play with, since it is a small knife and you could have trouble holding it with enough grip when opening it.

But if you have giant hands and thumbs, you might have trouble.....

The best advice I can give you is yo go to youtube and search for Mnandi. Look at arcieman ( on spelling right now) video. He opens it one handed in the video. Much easier then one might think.

One thing I realised is that when people see studs etc they know it can be opened one handed, but if they do not know how to do it they can screw up your blade. Almost hapened with my seb. I just grabed it in time before he nearly started bending the blade to touch the frame! Any way. but if there are no studs people are inclined to use both hands and do not know better. My Burger EXK people usually open with both hands because it does not have studs, cutouts r anything. Only a lip to open it on and non knife people dont know how to use that.
