I've been looking into custom buck 110 and lately I've been wanting a nickel Buck with a black handle. The Hunter Pro comes to mind.

The pro is $125

What the hell am I missing? An extra dot and blade is stamped differently.

buck sells on their site at top dollar to help their dealers and distributors move product. I didnt hunt everywhere but one dealer had the hunter pro at 99 bucks.

I've seen it too for $99 but it's kinda strange to be able to make a cheaper version on Buck's site.

I paid 100 for a pro at a gun show. It took me all of one second to say I'll take it. The brushed nickel bolsters look great and the textured G10 handle scales make it easy to grip. I don't know if G10 in the custom shop is textured like this or if it is smooth.

yeah there will be some crossover from the custom side to regular production...that is one of them. with bucks website being a msrp or whichever version they use and the dealers being able to sell at some sort of a map or something similiar price discounted from bucks site.

many makers of all kinds of products not just knives, do the same thing to protect their dealer and distributor base who buy a lot of product for stock and pay buck right away vs. buck sitting on product and waiting to sell it one customer at a time.

I'm very new to Buck and this forum hence this is my 14th post but I'm 95% sure that from the custom store the G10 grip is smooth and not grippy at all.

I agree, I think the custom store is probably smooth G10. For good looks, it might appeal more. But I prefer the less shiny textured G10 for looks and better grip. I like to use them

Hands, like these guys have said go to Bucks web site to the custom build your own site. You can build that knife for less than the 110 Pro and have a choice in S30V blade styles. Drop point, clip point, or clip point with serrations.

Usually it’s the other way around.

As others have said, actual street price on the Pro is a bit lower than the price on a similar custom shop model. I think you have to keep in mind the purpose of the Pro Hunter which seems to be to mass produce a knife which makes use of upgraded materials and steel which comes close to the quality of a custom shop knife but is available to all retailers and thus gets in the hands of many more end users than customs ever do. I would assume that your average knife user, even those which favor the Buck brand have no idea that the custom shop even exists so they're thrilled to purchase the Pro, an updates version of their favorite 110. This knife also seems to follow the success that many small retailers have had selling short runs of 110s and 112s with upgraded steel and handles.
