we saw a ~300 lbs black bear running away from us only about 100 ft or so when we reached camp...nothing out of the ordinary except about an hour later after lunch we heard a lot of panic screaming nearby and what sounded like a child being attacked...by a black bear?

so manofsteel and i came running towards the screaming, expecting to get up close and personal with a bear, but it turned out a pit bull attacked another hiker's tiny dog...both owners tumbled down a small hill trying to separate them – luckily they never hit any rocks on the way down...the tiny dog luckily got away with only small scratches on the left ear.

anyway, my cell couldn't catch it but the fall colors are definitely here.

Cool bear story! Man I need to get out and do some bushcraftin'! Deer season is over in my neck of the woods so I have no excuse now. Well I kinda do...I want to wait until at least one of my knives come in...got a few customs on order.

By the way, nice bike. I had a 1st gen R1 and that thing was crazy fast but way too twitchy. Almost got me in to heaps of trouble on numerous occasions. Careful on that thing.

Looks like a really fun outing, the third picture from the top, are we batonning spam by a Busse? :D:thumbup:

Another great post JV3--Thanks for sharing

& Another out of control pit--how shocking!!

Instinct took over with the Pit. Oh well... I'm glad the little dog got out of it.

yup, too bad. i hold the pit bull's owner partly responsible though...even with my super friendly golden retriever i hold him by the collar when passing other dogs on the street.

thanks, man! started to get chilly too - no more mosquitoes so perfect woods time.

Looked like a great time. Don't eat processed food these days but always like seeing those woods as been to many of the same places.

JV3, why fool around with a knife , cut your SPAM with a saw !! There are lots of good cordless saws including an Oregon chain saw , 40v !!

don't temp me...my buddy mentioned awhile back about a stihl chainsaw that's only 5 lbs :D

Awesome! The Spam battoning really shows the extremes that a knife can take :D

heck yeah...next test will be chopping up crispy bacon to mix into mashed potatoes...if the knife doesn't chip then it's good to go for the zombiepocalypse!
