broke-in the patagonia ascentionist 25l yesterday for a fast and light hike.

we dodged hurricane joaquin - just light rain and 30'sh mph wind gusts.

rain, wind and the pack felt really nice so i was happy.

I got some friends who live in the Pirinee Mountains (like 3h drive from my city) and it is already snowing there! Your pictures do nothing but encorage me to pack my crap and drive there! Snow season is about to start here...

Just a question, how high above sea level is the place you usually hike there?

a site states that the lowest point of the a.t. there (which i also frequent) is only 124 feet above sea level (http://www.nynjtc.org/park/harriman-bear-mountain-state-park). in the past one of the scenic peaks i've been to is ~1k feet elevation based on the trail map and my gps...there are most likely higher spots than that but i'd guess is that would be a good ballpark figure on most peaks in the area.
