i told him to white people we look like a bunch of mexicans looking for off-trail spots to plant marijuana...he was not amused.

the area is a hot spot for rattlesnakes but unfortunately the weather kept them underground so we didn't spot any.

the mini waterfall was flowing.

...although the grotto was way below the usual level so no playboy bunnies were found there.

we had a tough winter so the berries are about a month late.

Not sure about edibility of the last pic, but I think not. The Black Berries above that was the "Roses" in your previous post. :o

Check to see if the silver Buffalo berry or its cousin is native in your region. Or look at the Autumn-Olive. That is what it looks like.

nice. I have used flint and steel in the past....was more a "novelty" to me personally.....but it was one of those things I thought, "eh, better learn it in case I ever need it."

Glad you got a buddy interested in the woods.

thanks! yup, i rarely use flint and steel because cedar bark is the only one i've found in my neck of the woods that work well with it but they can be tough to find among the many oaks and maples.

Good to see you working out that Hawk and a mora!!

thanks! i like those two a lot - easily in the top 5 of my favorite cutting tools.

This looks oddly familiar...:D

deja vu? they're updating the matrix...run! :D
