LT's thread on his display prompted me to put this one out here. I had a cabinetmaker friend make this shadow box, 18"x24" and supplied him with some galvanized steel covered with cloth to put in the back. I buy those strong permanent magnets (Lee Valley Tools) and display my knives without visible support! Plus it's easy to shift them around, and change things, much easier than sewing or wiring them on. The magnets hold them well. I drove 7 hours to Oregon, with 2 displays flat in the trunk, and the knives did not move!
These are my lesser harness jacks, the ones I don't keep in the safe. I have a 1/2" board screwed to the wall, with a 45 degree bevel on top, and a matching recess in the back of the case. I can take it (them) down or hang them up in seconds, and slide them into the car to travel, or the into the safe when I go away. Locking latches keep casual little fingers out. I have another, so 2 in walnut, which were the prototypes, and have 4 ordered in cherry wood, my favorite wood.
You can see some of the magnets in the case at the top. I make labels and "pin" them up with smaller magnets. when I get a better display re-organized I'll post a pic, Schrades of course!
