I was thinking about Mentors dual grind design and wondered how one would work with a short scandi section on one side of the blade and a convexed edge on the other.
Think Nessmuks double bit axe only on a knife !
By having a symetrical handle you can just turn the knife over for making fuzz sticks etc with the scandi but you still have a full convexed edge for your main cutting tasks.
Incase ya wondering I didn't take the scandi all the way to the end so it leaves you some flat spine near the end should you need to batton the knife !

This was just a quick drawing of the kinda thing I'm thinking of, what d'ya think crazy ?

I think that would hurt a lot if you started doing push-cuts by accident :P

Kind of cool, though--almost like one of those survival knives with the sawback, except with something actually useful on the back, haha

Pitdog -- you are reading my mind!

I have been thinking about something like this for years -- literally ever since I saw the Tops Smoke Jumper which I like the blade but do not like the handle of.

My only suggestion would be on the top of the blade, forward of the scandi portion, there needs to be enough blade tip area left for batoning.

I knew I`d seen that grind somewhere! It looks to be very versatile, something I`d like to make.
