Another eBay phony

I e-mailed the guy and asked the same question. lets see if he posts it so everyone can see it. I asked him first," because it says the knife is a 1 of 1 knife and I said how is that I have one and second if the knife is from 75 why does the certificate of authenticty say 2004. Im not a tattle tale but I wonder if e-bay would do anything if you reported the item. If someone genuinly made a mistake or they just dont know no problem but this, this guy is out to rip some one off. what a scam. -joel

I also asked the seller a question regarding the knife's serial number.

As far as the guy's intent, I'm willing to give him a chance to explain and correct the auction listing. Perhaps he photographed the wrong knife?

-Bob

The certificate for what it is worth was just to show that the knife came from the factory after it closed in 2004, what concerns me is the fact that the cert has prototype 0000, and the number on the knife is rather different.
it looks like 14050, it would seem that this cert is not for the knife shown.

If I read it correctly, the certificate just says that it came from the Smokey Mountain bankruptcy sale, which explains the 2004 date. I don't know about the #0000 on the certificate vs. the number on the knife. I suppose the knife number could be an internal factory collection number.

I guess I'm dumb. Somebody's going to have to connect the dots better for me. :)

Exactly. There's not a good photo, but I read the serial as 14095. Regardless, it's not a prototype if 14000 itentical knives were made before that one.

Presentation Knife...Who did they present it to?..the village idiot. I have mint never out of the box 11 and it is in a lot better condition than that cleaned monstrosity. Why wouldnt they present in the Special box with all the bling like all the genuine ones have.My serial is 05670 and I'll be willing to bet it was made 8425 ahead of his. I have seen some loose that were replacements that dont even have the diamond etch on backspring..I wonder if his has.
I will concede he has the prototype to the Certificate of Authenticity as I have half a dozen and they are dated and in hand scribe. I believe he is printing whatever he wants on those toilet tissues.I do have knives with 000 but more likely salesmans samples.Must be getting near the bottom of his barrel of knives.

...about the certificate. DOCUMENT OF AUTHRNTICITY. He doesn't say it is authentic. Wrong photo is a good guess.

This guy has more prototypes than I've ever seen in my life. It's obvious that he could care less about the knives and more about the money.....which is okay. Not everyone is gonna be about the knives. If all of those are prototypes, it's a shame that the prototype collection isn't kept intact. Either that, or he has a 0000 stamp in his workshop.

I suspect he's a dealer with access to Blue Ridge Knives, a large knife wholesaler; that's not one of the SMKW certificates.

Blue Ridge didn't fill out the certificates when they distributed the knives; they left some or all of the certificates blank for their dealers to fill out. Some dealers have filled out those certificates to the best of their knowledge, some are being deliberately untruthful, and some are simply passing along the blank certificates for the buyers to fill out.

Haven't heard back from that seller yet, nor had he changed the listing or the photos. It is Saturday though...

I looked at the knife and it looks like it has 6000 on the blade. Also, he ended the auction early because of a listing problem. Don't know about the rest I'm just a dumb collector(careful I might add). Been burned a few times by sellers on ebay like the 1230T I just received that has no snap but the seller didn't mention that. I guess I should have asked.

I sent the seller an email & asked him if he has pictured the wrong knife.

Here is his response:
Hi: You are the first to notice. I took a picture of the wrong knife.
Now How to Fix it?????

I guess he decided to fix it by closing the auction.

Dale

I bought a knife from him last year. 1 of 1 prototype Goldstone celluloid Moose patern case. I had that knife craze phase and money to burn. I payed way too much only to find others just like it. On a lighter note; I recently married and still have the knife bug, but less money to burn. :(

He ended the auction due to an error in his listing. Will have to watch to see if it comes back again though.

I dont know how to post the link to ebay but check this 125OT out. I not sure but I dont belive this to be the original box, which he states new in the box. if one of you guys know how to post the link please feel free. ebay item number # 250094580529.-joel

A dark, fuzzy photo of the knife can't hide that giant box logo... The dark fuzzy photography doesn't even hide the Chinese Old Timer shield very well...

I 'offered' to report the auction as fraudulent if they did not correct the listing.

I sent this guy an email and told him that the box is from Taylor Cutlery LLC the company that imports Schrade copies from China. I asked him where the knife was made.

I wonder if I will get a response??? :D :D :D
