I am awaiting a reply from the seller, but from what I have gotten so far, this knife is perfect and only has the manufacturing sharpening on the blade, so my question here is, did the F1 have a secondary bevel at one time and if so, what steel did they use and approximately how old is this knife? Thanks!

AFAIK they always had a secondary bevel, although most people just polish it off with a mouse pad when they resharpen. You will only know an approximate age if it doesnt have laminations.

Yeah, I thought they were all convexed too, but if I remember correctly, someone posted that at one time they had a secondary bevel..

I have heard that the first generation F1's, and I think even some of the 2nd gen, had a secondary bevel. I recall reading that somewhere, when I was researching F1's before my own purchase.

First generation was a 154cm flat grind, second was a vg10 flat grind, third is a laminated vg10 convexed grind. All have a secondary bevel.

dantzk.

Thanks for the responses and great information. Photo of the blade looks convexed and the line the seller was talking about, might be the lamination line. Thanks again.

I have yet to handle one of those or a Mora 2000. I could not find either in the entire Blade show and was quite bummed. No Bark River that I saw either.

Ah, yes, I just got a laminated F1, and that line you see running the length of the blade IS the lamination line. It took me awhile to figure out that was what you were talking about.
