I made this one for a really nice guy on the other side of the country.

The blade is 9.5 inches....5160, with multiple quenches, triple tempered and then torch drawn in certain places. Gets a really nice flex over a brass rod. It is 5/16 at the spine with a nice distal taper. The false edge is sharpened. The blade was finished to 600 grit and then acid washed.

The guard is 1018...done ala Bruce E. style, but I left it rather rustic at the owner's request....it is bead blasted and blued.

The handle is one of my favorite woods, black locust. Finished with Tru-Oil.

What do ya'll think?

Greg,
You know, that is one FINE looking blade. That knife has personality and SOUL! Now that is some nice work.

That's a very pretty knife, both in lines & fit/finish. Looks light & very quick. That's also a well-designed and well-executed photo to show it off. Congrats to both the maker & the cameraman. :)

Beutiful!, Looks light and quick, and I can see why black locust is one of your favorite woods:cool:

I think it's gorgeous - nothing like a big bowie to make my day. I'm not familiar with black locust wood, but it sure looks nice!

Cheers,

Roger

My, that's a beautiful mean looking knife! Looks very quick and apt, the new owner is a very lucky human. I like the wood too, and the brass spacer up front. Super job, thanks for the inspiration!

Roger...the black locust that I have is very yellow to begin with but I stain it that color. I like the simple grain pattern which doesnt detract from the rest of the knife.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!
