Got my slightly used GH WWII this week from a fellow forumite and I must say I am very impressed! Tomorrow she is gonna get a cleanin', polishin', and a sharpenin'

I am new to GH but not khukuris. I have owned many and given mayn as gifts, mostly HI. I still have an 18" AK, but I like the WWII models better than the Ang Kholas.

Anyways, hope to be around here more often. And Craig, thanks for the great knife!

PS Does GH have a printed catalog?

Congrats, and it's good to see you here, CD! Hope you'll let us know here how your new addition works out.

Maybe Craig can tell you about the catalog. E-mail might get his attention quickest. One thing you can do is go to the websit and print it out from a computer.

Nice khukuri you've got there, CD. Have you got it lookin' good? My GH WW2 just came in from the oak pile, and it seemed to remind me of what I've been missing out on lately. I really like its blend of solid feel, relatively light weight, and rather modest size.

Yep, they're looking good! Got some mineral oil to put on them to protect them. The WWII has a little pitting, but not too much. Looks really good actually. And the brass looks good too (polished the tip of the scabbard and the bolster and endcap while I was working on it).

The old shirt I used to polish has looked better. That's what happens when you polish a recently sharpened knife...

Good deal, Clay. While I'm not fond of serious rust either, some stains or patina seem right at home on the khukuri.

Be well....Dan

Watch out with that edge! I've got scars on my fingers, what with all the khukuris I've polished. And do keep that baby oiled. Now, LT DAN: What's this hatred you have for the wood around your property?

Craig: Actually, I like the stuff, but we seem to lose a big oak every few years. Hardwood is a pretty good test for a khukuri, don't you think? While I try to put a little inspiration into chopping, it doesn't take very long to assess the performance.

One thing that seasoned oak has taught me well, is some appreciation for the shock absorbing properties of the traditional spiked tang!
