So been browsing around here for a month or so just kind of absorbing information here and books. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and intoduce myself. I have posted here before I think? but never introduce. About me been collecting knives for about 15 years (nothing fancy or expensive) Just started learning the qualitites of steels I have a couple Ka-bars, ontario spec plus's, Cold steel etc etc. Just started assembling and slightly modifying Blade blanks and I am doing well at it and now naturally progressing to stock removal. Great site hear lots of info, on advise here I have read 50$ knife shop, How to make knives, as well as the wonders of knifemaking....great books with lots of info Good for base knowledge. Just got my all about grinding DVD from Daniel Prentice....GREAT dvd very nice to see these concepts in action. Cant wait to get more involved around here!!
 
welcome to BF....It sounds like you have a good start on the process..Keep it up..:thumbup:
 
Now you done it! You'll be knee deep in grinding dust before you know it, your only friends will be knifemakers, and you'll find yourself looking at peoples furniture trying to see if you can find a good looking piece of burl for a handle.
 
Just wanted to throw in, that I am part of car forum and a softball forum and a couple more and must say this place is full of some of the most humble, helpful and seemingly all around good people around the web and that goes a long way in my book.

*Slightly OT, but what type of cars are you into?

Good one,Tom, I do this! You should see the pile of wood I've gotten from unusual places! I don't care that Ma sits on the floor to eat supper,I have some nice knife handels!!
 
One of my sister in laws has a walnut table that I need to cut a slab out of. There's a burl in there that's outstanding and it's almost 1 1/2" thick! I offered to house sit for her if she wants to go on vacation.
